106 Quraish

This is a Makki Surah and is a reminder to the Quraysh of the blessings of Allaah (SWT) on them. The Quraysh occupied the sacred land of Masjid Al Haram, which had been inhabited by the children of Ibrahim (AS), and had been established as a place of worship. People came to Makkah to perform the pilgrimage, hence it was bustling with visitors. The Quraysh enjoyed the commerce that was carried out to provide for the visitors. Besides, they traded with regions such as Syria in the summer and Yemen in the winter, and their trade caravans enjoyed security along the trade routes. Bearing in mind all these advantages, the Quraysh should reflect that is not Allaah (SWT) alone deserving to be worshipped since He alone is responsible for all the benefits that they enjoy.
