073 Al-Muzzammil

This is a Makki Surah ordering the Prophet ﷺ to perform the night prayers, in the last part of the night. The late hours of the night are good for remembering Allaah (SWT) with sincerity and to recite Qur’an in the prayers at length.

Allaah (SWT) exhorts the Prophet ﷺ to be patient and turn away from the taunts and mockery of the disbelievers. Establishing prayers at night is fundamental in training oneself to be patient while inviting people to Islam.
It may not be easy for everyone to recite lengthy passages of the Qur’an in night prayers, especially if they are ill or on journey. So they must do as much as they are able to, and seek forgiveness from Allaah (SWT). Allaah (SWT) will bless them them and forgive them.
