041 Fussilat

Surah Fussilat is a middle Makki Surah and draws its name from the reference to the Qur’an, as something explained or elaborated upon.

Beginning from Surah Ghaafir, are a group of seven surahs that initiate with the Huroof Muqattaat – Haa Meem. Such disjointed letters, such as Alif Laam Meem, Yaa Seen, Noon etc. are found at the beginning of twenty-nine Surahs in the Qur’an, and only Allaah (SWT) knows their true meaning, even though scholars have tried to understand and explain possible interpretations. The surahs that begin with Haa Meem follow in succession – Ghaafir, Fussilat, Ash-Shoora, Az Zukhruf, Ad-Dukhan, Al Jaathiyah and Al Ahqaaf, and these are considered to focus on inviting people to the Tawheed.

The Qur’an is a revelation in Arabic, explained in detail, bearer of good news as well as warning. The disbelievers tried to distract the listeners from the Qur’an, by making noise when it was recited, and they will severely punished in the Hereafter from preventing people from guidance.

Inviting to Allaah (SWT) along with righteousness have been declared as the best of speech. Allaah (SWT) instructs the believers to repel evil with good, and that will soften the enemy but this requires a lot of patience and it’s a blessings from Allaah (SWT) for those who possess this virtue. Satan always incites men to act impulsively, and so they must seek refuge with Allaah (SWT) in order to not lose their patience.

Allaah (SWT) Has protected His Book from any corruption or falsehood that may enter it at the hands of the people. And whatever has been revealed in it to the Prophet ﷺ, a similar message was given to past prophets as well.

The people will witness signs in the Universe as well as within themselves that surely the truth is from Allaah (SWT), but they are in doubt about the meeting with Him, while He Has encompassed everything.
