Mufti Ismail Menk
Born in Harare, Zimbabwe, Mufti Ismail ibn Musa Menk is from a well-respected family.
Sheikh Maulana Musa Menk, a reputed and eminent scholar and Da’ee (caller to Islam) and a well-known Imam in a masjid in Zimbabwe, is the father of this great Mufti.
From childhood, he was a gifted learner and managed to memorize some of the verses of Surah At-Tawbah of the Holy Qur’an at the tender age of three. This was enhanced by picking up recitation from the children who used to frequent his home to study from his father.
Mufti Ismail Menk commenced Hifz at nine years and achieved success at the age of twelve. He studied Arabic, Urdu and the Hanafi Mazhab from a young age and also simultaneously mastering Shariah under the able guidance of his father.
After attaining the coveted qualification in the form of a degree in Shariah from the University of Madinah, he also specialized in Iftaa at Darul Uloom Kantharia in Gujarat, India.
Mufti Menk has been persistently involved in teaching, lecturing internationally and management of Islamic educational institutes for the underprivileged as well as the orphans.
His accolades and high reputation rightfully have granted him the Head of the Fatwa Department of The Council of Islamic Scholars of Zimbabwe known as Majlisul Ulama Zimbabwe, which attends to the educational needs of the Muslim Ummah of Zimbabwe.
He is also one of the Muezzin and leads the prayer as an Imaam at Masjid Al Falaah, one of the largest Masjid in Harare.
